Los anillos de Liesegang (también conocidos como bandas de Liesegang) son una serie de bandas interanulares que crecen en círculos concéntricos como resultado de precipitaciones periódicas. Son estructuras sedimentarias secundarias (diagenéticas). Los anillos de Liesegang se distinguen de otras estructuras sedimentarias por su aspecto concéntrico o anular. El mecanismo exacto por el que se forman estos anillos no se conoce del todo y aún se está investigando.
En la naturaleza suelen aparecer en rocas sedimentarias (como la arenisca), pero los anillos compuestos de óxido de hierro también pueden aparecer en rocas ígneas y metamórficas permeables que han sido erosionadas químicamente. Algunas fracturas de la roca pueden delimitar la extensión de las bandas de Liesegang, en cuyo caso pueden tener la apariencia de una falla geológica, pero en realidad son pseudofallas.
Liesegang rings (also known as Liesegang bands) are a series of interannular bands that grow in concentric circles as a result of periodic precipitation. They are secondary (diagenetic) sedimentary structures. Liesegang rings are distinguished from other sedimentary structures by their concentric or ring-like appearance. The exact mechanism by which these rings form is not fully known and is still being investigated.
In nature they often occur in sedimentary rocks (such as sandstone), but rings composed of iron oxide can also occur in permeable igneous and metamorphic rocks that have been chemically weathered. Some fractures in the rock can delimit the extent of the Liesegang bands, in which case they can have the appearance of a geological fault, but are in fact pseudo-faults.

En las coordenadas verás unas líneas de liesegang y tendrás que responder (vía geocaching) a las siguientes preguntas:
- ¿En la piedra com mas líneas de liesegang, ¿Cuántos con anillos puedes encontrar?
- ¿Qué grosor tienen (mm, cm, m)?
- ¿De qué color son los anillos? (negro, marrón, rojo, amarillo, azul - ¡elige uno o dos!)
En caso de errores, se lo comunicaremos. Los registros sin respuestas podrán ser eliminados sin previo aviso.
Por favor, no escribas las respuestas en tu bitácora y no subas fotos con spoilers.
At the GZ you will see some liesegang lines and you will have to answer (via geocaching) the following questions:
- How many rings can you find on the stone with most rings?
- How thick are these lines? (mm-wide, cm-wide, m-wide?)
- What colour are the rings? (black, brown, red, yellow, blue - choose one or two!)
