Located a small scramble climb up off the paved railroad section of the Ranier Trail. You can come at it from either direction of the leisurely trail, there is ample parking at trailhead. It is a flat lovely stroll, families welcomed and encouraged. To get to the cache from this trail you will need to use an existing dirt path and go straight up for a few steps...this offshoot doesn't seem to lead to anywhere, I guess it will now. As in the fairy tale Billy Goats Gruff, this goat was also able to get away from the troll.(it will make sense when you open the cache)... This troll would be, of course, Jakob! Trolls are greedy and luckily for geocachers Jakob can not get to this protected goat. Please be cautious and keep the goat safe!
You will need stealth abilities to acquire this cache as Jakob is popular...very, VERY popular, there are many watchful muggles with their ever present cameras and roving eyes. Let's not even discuss the threat of a trolls appetite! There is a game trail (more like a GOAT trail of a few steep, slippery feet STRAIGHT UP) which allows for a bit of privacy from people and Jakob.
There will be several plastic goats for the first finders of this cache and it will be filled periodically/spontaneously with goats. One remains a permanent resident tho ;) We would love to see photos of you taunting Jakob with the snacks that are just out of his reach! We hope you take them home to greener pastures to live comfortably away from the ever hungry Jakob.
