東京都心の鳩森八幡神社に「富士山」があるのを知っていますか？
この富士山は正確にはミニチュアとして再現された小さい山のことで「富士塚 ふじづか」と呼ばれています。富士塚は富士山を真似て円墳形に土を盛り上げて人工的に造られたもので、安山岩、花崗岩、アア溶岩の火成岩で覆われています。特にこの富士塚の山頂周辺の岩は実際に富士山から運ばれた岩が配置されています。
あなたも富士塚に登って「富士山登頂」を体験すると同時に様々な火成岩を観察してみましょう。

この富士塚は1789年の築造と言われ東京都の有形民俗文化財に指定されています。古来より富士山は神の宿る場所として信仰されてきましたが、江戸時代後期以降に主として富士登山が困難な人々のために東京の各地に築造されました。人々はこの富士塚に立つと実際に富士山に登頂した時と同じご利益を得られると信仰してきました。

火成岩のもととなるのはマグマです。地球上に多くの種類の岩石が存在する理由は、主に
・マグマの種類がいろいろあること (組成の多様性)
・熱いマグマから冷たい岩石になるまでの冷え方がいろいろあること
によります。マグマの種類は石の組成に、冷え方は石の組織に反映されます。

更に溶岩は表面の形状に基づいてアア溶岩とパホイホイ溶岩とに区分されます。
