This is a participation event.
This is not just a participation event, it's a T5 participation event.
The log book will be available to sign on Wes's kayak in the middle of the river.
For this event you will need a water craft of some form, in order to participate and claim a smilie.
K Road Cliffs are an amazing place to visit. Geology, biology and stunning views all in one.

The car park at the top of the cliff is relatively secluded, and sadly people take advantage of it to dump rubbish.
That is not our focus in today's CITO.
There is an access stairway down to the river bank, which is regularly utilised by anglers. Sadly, many of those anglers take advantage of the peaceful, secluded area, and dump their rubbish there.
That is not our focus in today's CITO, either.
BeachPatrol 3030 does an amazing job in the City of Wyndham area. They will have the car park and accessible riverbank area covered.
We will be helping them by tackling the areas that they can't reach.
Huge amounts of litter makes its way into the Werribee River, or its tributaries (Lerderderg river, Djerriwarrh Creek, Pyrites Creek, Arnolds Creek, Toolern Creek and Davis Creek). The river system rubs up against the Western Highway in a number of places, and storm water drains from Bacchus Marsh, Melton, Hoppers Crossing, Wyndham Vale and Werribee dump into it... all flowing towards Werribee South Beach and Port Phillip.
Think of the kids! Think of the dolphins! Think of the dolphin kids!
The K Road Cliffs area is nearly the limit of the bay tidal zone, so litter has been known to flow out, then flow back in, only to flow out again. There's lots of places litter can get caught up in blind pools and reed banks, making it hard for fish and water birds alike. Some of those places could be accessed by a dedicated walker, but most cannot. Even the river bank next to the golf course is quite steep and treacherous, and most "rubbish caches" amongst the reeds would still require you to be standing in hip-high water to reach them.
Watercraft are the easiest and safest way to deal with this.
We will meet at the K Road Cliffs car park, check in with BeachPatrol 3030, then clean up the river!

This is a participation event: bring a kayak, SUP or other water craft, plus your PFD. Note you will be carrying it up and down stairs!
October in Victoria is mid-Spring, and that means there's a fair chance the weather might be warm: bring a hat, sunscreen and a water bottle. There's a small chance the weather might still be cold: bring a coat and/or wetsuit. This is Victoria: be prepared for nearly anything!
Wes and BeachPatrol 3030 will provide reusable bags and a sharps container for litter collection. Gloves will also be available, however for transmissible diseases reasons we prefer you use your own.
This event is shared with BeachPatrol 3030.
