My daughter possesses Swedish roots on her maternal side, which has ignited her fascination with Vikings. During her elementary school days, we explored a map depicting an ancient Viking settlement known as Nordholm. This map showcased a diverse array of structures, small cottages, taller houses, and even some roofless ones, likely remnants of houses that had fallen down over time. She thoroughly enjoys studying it and imagining what life might have been like during that era.
Recently, we stumbled upon the map once again, prompting us to reminisce about her enduring fascination with it. She recalled how, during her younger years, she had found it funny that the map seemed to spell coordinates. I must confess that I had no inkling of what she was referring to, proving that my knowledge was not at the level of a sixth-grader, both in the past and now.
