Geocache Description:
22 September 2023, 11:00 - 12:15
Another successeful CITO last month saw a much reduced rubbish find which only goes to show that the CITO's have been working. After asking the team what their thoughts werre, we have gone for Billinghay this month. The village itself is pretty tidy but once you get down the country roads and adjacent to the main throughfares, there is plenty trash to be had.
Geocache Description:
26 Aug 2023, 10:55 - 12:15
The plan:
10:55 Sign onto the CITO outside the village newsagents (parking shown on waypoints).
11:00 Start of the CITO
The plan is to fan out and hit various hotspots around the village in small groups before reconvening at the shop to collate rubbish and then head off for a days caching.
For those that would prefer to stay in the relative safety of the 30mph zones, cachers are encouraged to clean up around BillinghayVillage.
Those that have a car and would like to CITO and dash, can work around Further down Gravellhill drove towards Billinghay which has a limited places to stop which concide with popular flytipping spots.
12:00 Reconvene at our respective start points. Those that are unable to take rubish home can leave their rubbish in a neat pile by OPS car (to be briefed on the day) which will be disposed of by myself. Should large piles of rubbish be found at flytipping spots, just flag it up and we can look to have it removed.
We are then free to refresh at the Plough which will be open for business offering hot and cold drinks. Then onwards to collect some caches to round off our Saturdays!

Here is the area we hope to cover. On foot we will only get so far. We can head out to a litter hot spot of our choice and either come directly back or some spots offer a loop back option (maybe even via one of Pens puzzle caches!).
Those in cars will be able to get a bit further and alternative paths have been shown with a dashed line for those withsing to make a loop of it and/or stay off the faster roads.
- Walcott road. turns to national speed limit soon after the village, lads of rubbish on the verges and in the ditches up here with aloop back option.
- Towards the fens, some dumping around here, a bit more rural with lots of wondering round options.
- main road. it is a 40 here but very busy. you can walk down the drain path here and yes there are a couple of caches here too.
- another cut through with associated litter. Another nice loop option.
You will need:
-
suitable dress for the weather and potentially grubby work.
-
gloves
-
bin bags
-
high vis jacket highly recommended
-
a pole of grabber to get things out of the ditches
Bin bags and disposable gloves will be provided at the start points.
Litter pickers can be borrowed from your local library. Woodhall Spa, Sleaford and Lincoln central are the closest to this CITO and thier opening hours can be found on the Lincoln council website.
