Come join the Wisconsin Geocaching Association to celebrate the Lonely Cache Game!
Not sure what a Lonely Cache is?
No problem! A lonely cache is one of the 1000 caches that have gone unfound for the longest period of time within Wisconsin. The Wisconsin Geocaching Association (WGA) hosts the Lonely Cache Game (LCG) on the www.wi-geocaching.com website to promote looking for these lonely caches. (Look for the WGA Lonely Cache Game and WGA Cache Rescue pages under the WGA Awesome Games menu of the WGA website.)
Did you know that there are over 150 lonely caches within 10 miles of Morris-Erickson County Park in rural New Auburn, WI? (Located just 45 minutes north of Eau Claire.) The WGA has planned a meet-up there for Saturday, October 14 to gather geocachers from near and far to hunt for as many of these lonely caches as possible in Chippewa Moraine and Rusk county areas.
Look for the WGA check-in table from 9:00-9:30 in the day use area of the park to check-in. There will be a short presentation on the LCG at 9 am. From 9:30am to 3:30pm teams will be out in the field searching for lonely caches. After searching, we'll meet up again at the park at 3:30 to compare notes on adventures and answer any questions on submitting cache reports on the LCG scoreboard. We want to hear your stories! (There may even be some prizes for some of the more unique adventure stories of the day.)
Log your will attend and note how many will be attending in your group by October 7 to be guaranteed a door prize. (Later logs will be subject to availablity.)
This is going to be a fun day! Mark your calendars, prepare any needed TOTT, pack your lunch, and bring a team or plan to connect up with others at the event to form a team to go find some lonely caches.
Feel free to bring snacks to share. Bottled water will be provided.
Come and have some fun, meet some new friends and learn about this fun game within a game.

Note: if running late on event day and arrive after the group heads out to search around 9:30, there will not be anyone planned to be at the park for check-in until we reconvene at 3:30, so head out to search and you can sign the event log in the afternoon meet-up.
If interested, there is a campground at Morris-Erickson County Park. In October, advanced reservations are no longer taken, and it is first come, first served using self registration at the park. https://reservations.co.chippewa.wi.us/parks/camping/morriserickson_campground/ for more information.
