Fall is in full swing in New England, and with it comes crisp air, and shorter days. Along the 69-mile scenic byway known as the Mohawk Trail (Route 2) one can see apples ripe for picking, corn being harvested and hay being bailed to feed the livestock over the winter months ahead, and pumpkins galore peeking out of their hiding places in the field.
According to Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) "The Mohawk Trail opened in 1914 as one of the first auto-touring roads in the country. This 69-mile scenic byway meanders through deep forest and historic towns, passing world-class art museums, early 20th-century tourist destinations, scenic hikes and dramatic vistas, all the while criss-crossing and paralleling five major rivers—the Millers, Connecticut, Green, Deerfield, and Hoosic".
