This is a devious cache and is hidden in plain sight! Something you see here is not what it looks like. It can be seen and reached from the silver railing, no need to go behind the utility box. Congratulations to GeoSugar as First To Find!
This cache brings you to the old Sacramento Bee headquarters, lots of bricks! The Bee was abuzz with both printing and editorial/administrative activity starting in 1952. Newsprint was brought in by the train car using the R Street sidetracks! In Fall of 2020 printing of the newspaper was moved to Fremont, CA and in Spring 2021 editorial offices were relocated to the Cannery at the end of Q Street leaving the old headquarters empty.
Now the buildings will be completely demolished and replaced by one of the central city’s largest housing projects. Two 5-story buildings will be built containing 538 apartments plus 48 townhomes. Take a moment to say goodbye to this piece of Sacramento history.
