The Crossing Place - The View

The Crossing Place is a new 5.1 kilometre trail on Gateway Island near the Murray River. It is the site of the original crossing between the colonies of New South Wales and Victoria. Today there is a walking trail featuring sculptures by local First Nations artists. More information can be found - here. Hopefully a few caches will be placed here - we certainly enjoyed the walk the first time we did it.
This one gives you a view of the Croosing Place Trail but is on the other side of the Murray River - the original crossing point is just upstream from this location. I left a gap on the track deliberately as Albury City Council has been working on this section of the river front for a long time (and are still working in patches). There are new picnic facilities, an updated walk along the bank and near to GZ a canoe launching spot. Floods delayed the works (and this point has gone under at least once since it was opened as well) so access at times might be limited. This was a weedy little patch (with Bungambrawatha Creek joining here there was often a lot of rubbish as well) and council have spruiced it up nicely.
You are looking for a micro here - it can be reached from the boardwalk but may be easier from the ground. A tool may make extraction of the log easier as well. The trail can be very busy so stealth will be required. Snakes may be present in summer. And depending how high the river is the site may not be accessible - please do not access the trail if flooded. Pay attention to the sign here as well - apparently people have already tripped over the steps here.
