Geocache Description:

Back in the beginning of lockdown, I found myself looking for a hobby. Just finishing high school and stuck having college classes online, I was extremely bored until I remembered an interactive game that I used to play when I was younger that'd require me to go on walks. I became extremely involved in the game, walking throughout the whole city of Elizabeth and into parts of Union and Linden, which eventually led me to the Kennedy Reservation. I live extremely close to this reservation, yet never have seen or heard of it. Upon the discovery, I began to bring my friend for weekly hikes exploring the entire wooded area, which is surprisingly bigger than we thought. Since lockdown ended and in-person classes started, we haven’t returned too many times , but my mom still does as she kept up with her lockdown hobby of nature walks. Despite how long it’s been since I’ve been here, the reservation has been my only choice of where I’d want to hide some caches since I started Geocaching in the beginning of summer, so I hope you all enjoy this small collection :).

THE CACHE:

This cache is located in a small hole my friend and I became returned to very often. While we hiked through the woods we began to pick up litter to throw out, but a lot of the litter we found was cool and we wanted to make our own personal display somewhere, so we returned to this spot and created “The Shrine”. Of course, there’s nothing about the shrine that makes it legit; there were no rituals or praising here so for those of you worried about the bad juju, don’t worry, it’s a just a random name two 18-year-olds came up with. The spot became extremely full of little knick-knacks we found until one day my friend and I decided to clean it out. Returning to this spot, I was surprised to find it still empty, but knew it’d be perfect for a cache. FTF gets a little souvenir from the “shrine” as a reward (if you wish to keep it of course). There is a little pencil in the cache but I suspect it’ll lose its point one day so just in case, BYOP. This reservation is also physically open 24/7, BUT there are signs stating that is open only dawn-dusk, so if you choose to enter outside these hours, please be aware you could get in trouble.

PARKING:

There is street parking at every entrance of the reservation but please be aware of the parts of the streets marked with “No Parking” signs.

Congrats to Rose81689 for the FTF!
