Tadpole - noun - the tailed aquatic larva of an amphibian (frog, toad, newt, or salamander), breathing through gills and lacking legs until the later stages of its development. It takes frogspawn approximately three to four weeks to hatch and become a frog. Each tadpole is around 12mm and brown in colour.
