il batell è una delle imbarcazioni più antiche e storicamente conosciuta, può essere a remi o a vela e veniva utilizzata dai pescatori del lago di Como per il trasporto del pescato o di passeggeri. La sua fama le ha aggiudicato il titolo di simbolo del lago. Adesso è conosciuta come “barca Lucia”, il cui nome è tratto dalla novella Manzoniana dei promessi sposi. Ora è esposta davanti ad un porticciolo del lago, a mo 'di monumento storico.
“Il battell” is one of the oldest and more historically known boat in the Como lake, it can be driven by paddles or it can be a sail boat. It was used by the local fishermen to transport fishes or people. Its fame granted it the title of symbol of the Lake. Now it’s known as “Barca Lucia”, which is the name of one of the main characters in Manzoni’s novel “The Betrothed”. At this moment it’s located near a port by the lake, as a historic monument.
