It's gonna be movie night on the Space Coast so save the date and grab a date!
No need to travel far to watch these movies.
Every year, Groundspeak invites budding movie makers to create genius. This year the GIFF reel contains an hour of carefully selected finalists films made by geocachers, for geocachers, about geocachers, geocaches and geocaching. Now in it's tenth year, more and more people are being exposed to these creative individuals and it's giving us an excuse to party.
Groundspeak started approving these remote viewing parties after the 2015 GIFF was rained out in Seattle. The 2020 event was virtual due to COVID. GIFF 2022 was bypassed due to all the delayed 20th Anniversary events. This year, we offer a physical event where your "Attended" log will earn you the GIFF souvenir. Unlike some previous years, Groundspeak is NOT providing an option to earn the souvenir for those who are not able to attend an event. (In 2021 the GIFF reel was made available on YouTube with a special trackable code to discover.)
The SCGA event started in 2016 and this will be our seventh (can't call it annual) periodic GIFF event. It will be held Sunday evening, November 12, 2023. The coordinates will take you to BlackJeep's old place of business (he has an in with the current owner.) The plan is to gather at 6 pm, schmooze and swap our own geocaching stories before we dim the lights and start the show at 7 pm. There will be a QR code shown onscreen at the end for you to choose your favorite. A list of entrants will be distributed for you to keep track of your favorites during the hour-long showing of these movie shorts.
You are encouraged to sneak treats into the "theater" to share.
Mark your calendar and make plans to join us for the Space Coast Geocaching Association's Seventh Periodic Geocaching International Film Festival.
