SQ Somerset Center...no need to climb the hill! Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Nurse Nanna: Archiving this as it is not terribly winter friendly and footprints in snow will make it more likely to disappear again.

Geocache Description:

SQ stands for Spirit Quest, typically identifying Cemetery caches.  Please respect the privacy of anyone visiting here, or any official activities.Their time here is more important than ours.

Please note that this a daylight only cache.  Dawn to dusk. No night caching allowed here.

Do NOT park on the road, but use the nearby church parking lot.  The only time this might be an issue is Sunday mornings, but other than that there are seldom any cars there.

As a newbie cacher many years ago there was a cache sitting high atop the very steep hill just west of this easy/flat spot.  Several of us came here to find it and we attempted to not only climb up without losing our footing and crashing down.   As you can see, this would not be a simple walk up a hill and a graceful descent down.  And the top was a tad narrower and a lot muddier than we'd imagined.  We did make the find but not until the 3 of us were half covered in mud and leaves and laughing so hard we nearly fell down bottom over teakettle if you get my drift.  I still remember Cammo Bill.....a big guy with a warm heart, making his attempt.  He sounded just like the 3 Stooges as he rapidly picked up speed in a not in the least bit graceful manner, trying unsuccessfully to keep his head up and his legs on the ground as he tried to get down......  I can still hear his frantic "Whooop......Whoop......WHOOOP!!!!!   as he flew down flapping his arms in the air while his darling wife and I, who pretty much came down on our bottoms inch by inch just moments before him, fell on the ground laughing at his antics.    To this day I still hear him whooping his way at breakneck speed when I pass the area.  And I still chuckle at the memory.

Just be grateful that this cache is not difficult, nor is the terrain what it could have been.  It's a simple walk in a peaceful place.

Please return the hide in a manner that keeps it out of sight.  I'll add a bit of cammo around it.

Enjoy!
