Geocache Description:

The official name for this bridge is the "Clement Street Bridge", however to the locals it's also known as the "Bay State Bridge", or "Black Bridge". Whichever name one chooses, this bridge spanning the Mill River with it's initial construction date of 1894 has been in place and used daily for over a century. In it's heyday in the nineteenth-century, Bay State Village was one of the Northampton's principal manufacturing districts. It should also be noted this bridge is the only river crossing in the Bay State Village section of Northampton.

As identified in the Massachusetts Department of Public Works database, the Clement Street Bridge is the sixth oldest of nine "Pratt through trusses" bridges in Massachusetts. In addition, this bridge is listed as a state historic bridge according to the Massachusetts Historical Commission.

A quick cache. Fairly winter friendly and shouldn't take more than 5 minutes. At times plowed snow might get in the way a little, but the cache container should still be findable. NOTE: The CC is not on the bridge itself. Hint. Read the hint!
