Geocache Description:

IMSpider A Tribute; Achieved #6 worldwide of over 58,000 geocachers

IMSpider

The Geocaching community lost an important icon. IMSpider who sadly passed away 6/16/23. John was a very good friend, I've been with him on many adventures, breakfasts, lunch and dinners enjoying our great conversations. He was a very kind gentlemen, liked his breakfast bacon "extra, extra, crispy underline crispy” as he joked with the wait staff, he also enjoyed a nice pinot grigio wine at lunch and dinner too.

IMSpider

John was a very private man, tad shy and did not revel in his increasing Geocaching fame of becoming number one in New Jersey then moving to Delaware, when he eventually made it to number six worldwide.

John discovered geocaching by accident, hiking in Garrett Mountain on Sunday, November 05, 2006 he found a geocaching hanging over a cliff, "The Whole 9 Yards" GCYMUP by Vanm. This first geocache intrigued him, and the rest is history. Ive seen him climb up or down a cliffs to get an extreme cache which I was afraid to try. There was no tree cache that would stop him too.

Signal, Old Navy & IMSpider

Geocaching started as a solitary diversion for him, leaving early morning to be home by afternoon to attend to his sick wife. She loved to hear about his adventures, they even agreed to have a small cache at her cemetery. After she passed his passion for geocaching grew and allowed him to travel further distances.

As his fame continued to increase there were many many geocachers wanting to meet the famous IMSpider and take a photo. He called my one day and said "I need a pathtag, people keep asking" so I helped him make his famous IMSpider pathtag, which were also very sought after! He did enjoy meeting people and making many friends. I always kidded him it cost me one dollar for his appearance fee at NNJC events.

I will personally miss John, his fun spirit and great friendship, RIP my friend.
