Geocache Description:

Once upon a time there was a very nice piece of personal geoart in Northern Virginia. Unfortunately, one of the points in the geoart (pun intended) had to go away because the property got developed. Alas, the remainder of the geoart points were sad for their loss, feeling incomplete. But now, with a replacement cache and replacement puzzle, the set of points are once again complete. We could have a long discussion on set theory and the completeness of sets, but we won't.

There is NO cache at the reference coordinates. The point was chosen because it was artistic. Actually it it not just artistic but rather it is incredibly artistic. Might we say, artistic beyond the power of words to convey its artisticness. If there is a cache at the posted coordinates, I will attest and affirm that I DID NOT put it there and was unaware if its existence when I created this one. You can go there and search if it makes you happy but it likely will not do you any good, particularly since it is the middle of a fairly busy road. You need to solve the puzzle, all of which is below.

You may want to do this one at home in your jammies but it is not required. Nobody will ask and you don't have to tell.

What it is is points. Like in the name of this cache. Now there are a lot fo different types of points in the universe and we are going to learn something about some of them. I tried to keep the subjects varied so 1) no group has a particular advantage/disadvantage and 2) so nobody had to read Principia Mathematica (either one). You will NOT be asked about the points in your geomobile.

You will have to get the answer to 26 questions (Q01 through Q26). The Q answers can be anything. Q01 through Q19 ALL contain the word "point" or the phrase "point of". You are going to totally ignore "point" and "point of" in YOUR answer. Just pretend they never existed. Q01 and Q02 are "gimmies".Q20 and Q21 are each a single word that does not contain the word "point". Q22 through Q26 are all student produced numeric answers.. If the answer to a "Q" question has punctuation, ignore it.

  • Q01 = Battle fought on September 12, 1814 as a prelude to The Siege of Fort McHenry

  • Q02 = What Benedict Arnold tried to give to the British

  • Q03 = A matter of no practical value or importance because it's hypothetical

  • Q04 = 1991 movie remade in 2015

  • Q05 = A particular attitude or way of considering a matter.

  • Q06 = Not cross-stitch

  • Q07 = What we are unclear about

  • Q08 = What is equidistant from both ends

  • Q09 = Used to emphasize the truth of an assertion, especially one contrary to what might be expected or what has been asserted.

  • Q10 = Turn back before this or go all the way to the end

  • Q11 = Southern-most end of St Marys County MD

  • Q12 = Town at mile marker 48 on the C&O Canal

  • Q13 = Judas Priest's 1981 studio album

  • Q14 = Where GC15F1 was originally

  • Q15 = Raceway in Jefferson County, WV

  • Q16 = Where you buy things

  • Q17 = Coordinator of information

  • Q18 = A matter that forms the basis of a disagreement

  • Q19 = In a debate or meeting, checking if the proper procedure is being followed

  • Q20 = Not on the same line

  • Q21 = On the same line

  • Q22 = Minimum number of points to define a specific line

  • Q23 = The width of a standard point

  • Q24 = If you point a finger at someone, how many fingers point back at you?

  • Q25 = Smallest number of lines that can be defined by four distinct points

  • Q26 = Largest number of lines that can be defined by four distinct points in 3-space.

Once you get these 26 questions answered, you will need to use what you found and combine that into 17 values using the following fomulae below. If an "L" answer has multiple digits, you only care about the units digit. If any answer is negative, make it positive.

  • L01 = Q01

  • L02 = Q15 / 2

  • L03 = Q09 * Q22

  • L04 = Q04 * Q08

  • L05 = Q15 – Q26

  • L06 = Q06 – Q10 + Q16

  • L07 = Q26 * Q25

  • L08 = Q19 * Q22

  • L09 = Q02

  • L10 = Q20 + Q25 – Q24

  • L11 = Q17 + Q23

  • L12 = Q08 * Q21

  • L13 = Q06 – Q05 – Q24

  • L14 = Q11 + Q14+ (Q12/Q13)

  • L15 = Q23 * Q21 + Q19 – Q04

  • L16 = Q20 + Q12

  • L17 = Q13 + Q17 – Q12

It is left as an exercise for the reader to determine in what order the L-values should be placed.

The container is a bison, so obviously there is no room for anything other than perhaps your handle. And it must follow, as the night the day, you will need to bring a writing instrument of some sort. Please put it the cache back where it came from.

There isf parking nearby, although you may have to walk a couple of hundred yards. The parking location(s) should be obvious. If not, feel free to drop me a note.

If you try and access the final directly from the east, you will be met with signs indicating the folks don't want you to tresspass. Instead, if you go to the south (-.081/+.044) or the the north (+.173/-.048 or +.514/+.025) you should fine very nice access. Don't even think about coming in from the west.

Once again, for those of you who already have one or more FTFs, if you could please wait 24 hours after publication, we can all share the FTF wealth. Once the log is written to the first time, all bets are off. I cannot enforce that request but I will ask nicely. And if it were not my cache, I would have to wait also.

Since this is a Northern Virginia cache, the usual warnings apply: heed all signs, bring a bag for some impromptu CITO, and don't get caught in a real-life application of Russell's Paradox.
