Whatcom Falls Park is a 241-acre park located at 1401 Electric Avenue in the Whatcom Falls Neighborhood. There are two main entrances to the park. The entrance at Electric Avenue will bring you to parking, the sports field and upper playground. To access the picnic shelters, fish hatchery, lower playground, creek bridge and derby pond, use the Silver Beach Road entrance off Lakeway. There are several other access points to this park, one of which is at the end of St Clair St at St Clair Park. Both St Clair Park and Whatcom Falls Park may be reached via WTA bus routes.
The crowning jewel of Whatcom Falls Park is the FALLS! The falls my be viewed from the stone bridge, built in 1940 by the Works Progress Adminstration. The stones for the bridge are repurposed Chuckanut sandstone materials which once formed the arches of a downtown Bellingham building. There are four sets of falls ready for photo opportunities. Definitely a must see and an Earthcache, too. Whatcom is a Nooksack name meaning "noisy water".
Amenities include barbecue grills, dog off leash area, fish hatchery, fishing derby pond, multipurpose fields, outdoor basketball court, picnic shelters, picnic tables, playgrounds, restrooms, and tennis courts.
There are over 5 miles of trails winding throughout the park, offering opportunities for hiking, biking and trail running. The trails link the park to St Clair Park, Bay View Cemetery, and Bloedel Donovan Park.
