BCBFGT-Shadyside: The village of Shadyside is located along the Ohio River and bordered by Route 7. Originally it was known as Pultney Bottom and was the first county seat, in 1801. The railroad industry helped form this area, and legend says it was named after a railroad stop where a large tree provided shade, hence the name Shadyside that was adopted in 1911 after becoming incorporated.
