As avid geocachers we have noticed a trend of multicaches in cemeteries; so when we noticed Mooroopna Cemetery didn't have one we decided to change that! Hiding one of this is almost like a rites of passage for geocache hiders lol.
Mooroopna Cemetery
This cemetery is a little bit special in terms of its history and its connection to the old Mooroopna Hospital. In the town of Mooroopna was once a hospital (now in ruins beside the Mooroopna-side of the causeway). The Mooroopna Hospital stands on the banks of the Goulburn River and it is a monument to the charity of the early pioneers. It was the first institution of its kind in the Goulburn Valley. Originally starting as a small weathered timber hut on the river bank, it eventually grew to meet the needs of the community. They treated the injuries and accidents that occurred due to the harsh pioneering conditions. It eventually ceased to exist by the mid-1970s. However, during its time there many people passed away due to complications, specifically an outbreak of tuberculosis that saw hundreds die terrible deaths. At the location of waypoint 1 is a plaque serving as a memorial for a mass burial of unmarked graves for those who died. Their remains rest here at the back of the cemetery.
Finding the GZ
To find the GZ, you will need to read the plaque and convert the three digit figure of how many people are buried here into A, B, and C numbers.
Then get your maths on and complete the following equation
