This sandy beach on the shores of Lough Swilly known as the Lake of Shadows is in a natural heritage area and is a key wetlands site for birds. Fahan Wood within 1km of the beach is classified as being of regional importance, noted for Oak, Hazel and Rowan.
Ludden beach is situated on the southern outskirts of Buncrana between two local golf clubs. It is easily accessible from the large roadside car park and is within a 15 – 20 min walk from the centre of the town.
Although Ludden is less popular than Lisfannon beach it is a nice place for a walk, looking across the Lough Swilly at Rathmullan.
