This cache is part of the WERDAVE 80 for 80 series celebrating WERDAVE's birthday and his extensive contributions to cache hiding, especially on the trails and in the parks around the Santa Clara Valley.
The cache is hidden on the Priest Rock Trail in Sierra Azul OSP. I hadn't planned on putting a cache here, but I noticed this location as I was trudging up the trail and took a little detour to explore. You'll need to take a few steps up the bank to get to the "rocky hill" area, but there's a little draw that allows easy access without eroding the bank. (I've included a waypoint.) Once you get up there, the view is amazing! There's a mostly clear area with these spiky oak bushes. Look for one that's mostly standing apart from the others, and that's where the cache is! It's a largish small or smallish large plastic container hidden with common local camo.
The extra difficulty is for the possibility that this area might become more overgrown. As of the time of publication, the area was clear and open. The extra terrain is for the few steps up off the trail to get to the "rocky hill."
This part of the trail is roughly equidistant from the Limekiln and Priest Rock trailheads on Alma Bridge Road. Either way, it's a roughly 6-7 mile round trip with significant elevation gain.
Sierra Azul OSP is open one-half hour before sunrise until one-half hour after sunset. Happy hunting!
Thanks to DragonsWest for the container!
