This cache sits part-way up an old Slag Heap, (locally known as a Batch), that was tied to Norton Hill Colliery Pit Head that was situated nearby at the top of the Pit Path, (a factory now resides at the site). Underneath all the greanery that has taken hold over many years, is all the 'rubbish' that could not be used after the coal was extracted from the mine. On the other side of the batch is the Five Arches Greenway cycle path. This used to be the Somerset and Dorest Railway which was used to transport the coal.
If you carry on up to the top of the paths you can see over the Somer Valley landscape with the iconic local Batch landmark in the middle disctance.
This cache is best approached from the Celebration Meadow which is in the Town Park just behind the Somer Centre.
Watch out for those nasty thorns...
Congratulations to hammers11frome and silverfox11 on First 2 Find!
