Geocache Description:

14 October 2023, 10:30 - 11:00

Over the last 50 years, Milton Keynes has developed an excellent reputation for Public Art development, with over 220 Public Artworks across the city.

"Public Art in Milton Keynes is about inviting the vision, creativity, and skills of artists, to engage people freely with the place, in a well-considered way."

A quick short meet to introduce you to some of MK's sometimes forgotten pieces of artwork. The usual chatter and socialising are encouraged.

When: Saturday 14th October, 10:30 to 11:00

Where: Near to the artwork, on the redway next to the roundabout.

Who: Geocachers near and far, new and old, everyone is welcome!

Leaping Man - Clare Bigger (2014)

Clare was approached by a property developer after the 2012 Olympics and the idea came up to use Milton Keynes's native Greg Rutherford who'd won a long jump gold medal in London, as the model. When the 8 metre figure was unveiled in 2014, Greg was presented with a smaller version of the sculpture which he later used as his Instagram image.
