There's a hidden trail between the two biggest beaches of Curacao; Mambo and Jan Thiel. This trail takes you along the ocean through the nature reserve of the Jan Thiel salt flats. The hike takes about 50 minutes.
The salt flats are man-made. They were previously used to harvest salt from the ocean, but have long been abandoned. Nowadays, it has become the home of many birds, including egrets, herons, and flamingos.
During the wet season, the trail will be accessible, but most of the surrounding area will be underwater. In the dry season, a large portion of the lake dries up, leaving behind a layer of salt. The cache is hidden at a land bridge separating the lake from the ocean.
