Prometna povezanost s kopnom
Od 1964. Čiovo je povezano s kopnom putem mosta u gradu Trogiru,no razvojem turizma taj stari most s prilaznim cestama više nije imao dovoljnu propusnost te su se ljeti stvarale velike gužve. U veljači 2015. počela je gradnja novog mosta,oko kilometar istočno od staroga, koji je pušten u promet 17. srpnja 2018.
Domovinski rat
Velikosrbi su napali i ovaj hrvatski otok. U ratu za hrvatsku neovisnost 1991. – 1992. bombardirali su četiri dominikanska samostana: Gruž, Čelopeke, Dubrovnik s 27 izravnih pogodaka, a među njima i čiovski dominikanski samostan Sv. Križa koji se nalazi na sjevernoj strani otoka Čiova, na predjelu zvanom Zizmana Gniviza.

Transport connection with the mainland
Since 1964, Čiovo has been connected to the mainland by a bridge in the city of Trogir,but with the development of tourism, that old bridge with access roads no longer had sufficient capacity, and large crowds were created in the summer. In February 2015, the construction of a new bridge began, about a kilometer east of the old one, which was opened for traffic on July 17, 2018.
Homeland war
The Great Serbs also attacked this Croatian island. In the war for Croatian independence in 1991-1992, they bombed four Dominican monasteries: Gruž, Čelopeke, Dubrovnik with 27 direct hits, including the Čiovo Dominican monastery of St. Križa which is located on the northern side of the island of Čiovo, in the area called Zizmana Gniviza.
