This cache is placed on the footpath alongside the Manchester Ship Canal heading towards Irlam Locks.
Irlam Locks connects Flixon and Irlam, providing pedestrian access accross the ship canal from Manchester to Salford.
Although this area was once a place of huge industry, the locks are seldom used now for for the passing of ships along the canal.
More recently is the development of a hydropower plant which not only provides electricity for surrounding neighbourhoods, but part of the site project was also a fish and eel pass which improved the conditions for these animals after almost 100 years. As well as being able to admire the canal and locks there is also lots of other wildlife to be seen.
