Happy National Dunce Day

John Duns Scotus was a Scottish priest and Franciscan friar, university professor, philosopher, theologian, author and advisor to the king.

He was well regarded, influential and considered one of the top minds of his day( even if you have never heard of his work)

Even in the 1200s he wrote and taught about cutting edge ideas, even verging on laws of physics and quantum mechanics.

He did have some brilliant ideas but also some unusual , convoluted ideas.

Like students wearing a cone shaped cap would help capture and funnel the knowledge down toward their brain. Thus born what later came to be known as the Dunce Cap.

Despite his high standing and immense body of work, he eventually fell out of favor and at one point was even expelled from France in a disagreement between the King and the Pope.

🐧🐧Anyone is welcome to attend! Events are a great way to meet fellow geocachers, learn about geocaching, and get involved in the geocaching community.

Event Caches last at least 30 minutes and are open to anyone. We will post the event for 1 hour, We will probably be there early and stay a bit later if things go as usual. (Bragging rights to whoever gets there first.)

 Plan to share stories and photos of any caches you may have found lately. Found a new favorite? Gone on any trips? Anything planned for the future? Need a hint of a pesky puzzle?  

There is plenty of parking near the area
