This Geocache is on public land outside of the Superstition Wilderness.
Cache is a 5" long by 1" diameter plastic tube with a rubber stopper. No room for "treasure," however, there is a logbook and a pencil. Clearly labeled as a Geocache. Please carry more water than you think you need. The desert is beautiful but there are plenty of ways to injure yourself or your party.
The Superstition Mountains are the result of intensive volcanic activity about 25 million years ago. "They are composed of welded tuff (volcanic ash cemented under extreme heat), breccia (rock fragments cemented together with lava or welded tuff), granite, dacite, basalt, and some conglomerate." Take a moment to stop and wonder at the varied geology of the area and imagine just how violent this volcanic activity must have been. There are HUGE bolders in the area that were probaby cast hundreds, if not thousands, of feet from their source.
