Geocache Description:

This is a bonus cache to the Adventure Lab "Stow Battles, Hobbits, Water and Geology" in Stow. The AdLab can be found in any order but would suggest leaving "Stow Well" till last for this bonus.

Stow-on-the-Wold is the highest town in the Cotswolds at 800 feet and its hilltop location was the site of an Iron Age fort.

During Saxon era, a missionary named Edward lived as a hermit in the town and gave it its original name - St Edward's Stowe (old English for 'holy place'). Later the word 'wold' or hill was added to make it Stow-on-the-Wold - holy place on the hill.

Stow's location at the junction of six roads, including the Roman Fosse Way from Exter to Lincoln, helped it become an important trade centre.

In 1476, Edward IV gave a charter to the town authorising two fairs, the first on the 12 May, the other on the 24 October. Over 500 years later these dates are still used to fix the two horse fairs held each year. The gipsy horse fair is, by tradition, held on the nearest Thursday to the two Charter days.

The associated AdLab and this cache, are all accessible to wheelchair users, using solid walk ways but be mindful of traffic, especially in the market square. I hope you enjoy your wonder round Stow.

To find this bonus, you'll been given numbers with letters, as you find each section (five sections) of the AdLab. Use this formula to work out the final destination:
