Geocache Description:

This cache is in the Toledo Memorial Park cemetery. The cemetery gates open at 8:00am and Close at Sunset. Be warned that if there is snow on the ground you will not be able to see the marker.

She was independent, intelligent, resourceful, and a great favorite. Who am I talking about? Teenage sleuth Nancy Drew and Mildred Wirt Benson. The two had a great deal in common, including very long and active lives. Nancy Drew books, in one form or another, have been popular for more than 70 years. Mildred Wirt Benson, the author of the first Nancy Drew book and 23 of the first 25 Nancy Drew books, was still an active newspaper columnist when she died in May of 2002 at the age of 96.

You might like to learn more about the original ghost writer of the Nancy Drew mysteries. I'd recommend you do your own research but, for starters you might check out this WTTW video Mildred Wirt Benson and then read her Obituary. I found the amount of money she was paid for the first book to be truly shocking. Finally, here is a list of Nancy Drew books and who really wrote them.

How to get credit for finding the cache!

You must physically visit the published coordinates which will take you to the Wirt Benson family head-stone and Mildred Wirt Benson's marker. Look closely at Mildred Wirt Benson's marker, simply email me with what you find engraved on the marker besides the usual name and dates.
