Reduce, reuse, recycle, revenge (re:bench)...?
Singapore's former National Stadium has been given a new life through Re:Bench! ‘Re:Bench’ is a design competition that breathes new life into the old timber seats of the former National Stadium by empowering designers to turn them into unique benches that enliven our public spaces. The competition invited young designers to provide fresh interpretations of public seating. A total of 94 design submissions were received, with 14 winners selected by a panel comprising design professionals and senior management from the Urban Redevelopment Authority.
As you pass through the Marina Bay area, you may have noticed some of these benches and their unique designs. One such example would be the famous "giant bench" along the boardwalk near the Red Dot Design Museum. It's quickly become a famous photography spot and is yet another unique addition to the promenade and boardwalk. Perhaps, you could take a photo there after you've found this cache! In addition, these benches aren't just found along Marina Bay. They're found islandwide - in places like the Istana and the current Sports Hub itself!
This cache will bring you to another one of the benches - Gather by Ms Jane Yu Wai Ching. Gather was inspired by the movement of the athlete, the movement of calisthenics, gymnastics, parkour and acrobatics. This should be a fairly quick find, but as always, if there are any issues, do message me!
