The Służewiecka Valley
Park Dolinka Służewiecka is a favorite green space among the residents of Służew,
established in the 1970s. The landscape architect Longin Majdecki designed the park.
Here, everyone can find something for themselves - on a vast area (as much as 22.8
hectares!), there are, among other things, ponds with charming names, such as Forget-Me-Not or Devil's Eye. Interestingly, the park's area was once part of the village of Służew, not Warsaw. Today, remnants of the village can still be seen - a part of the buildings of one of the rural farms has been preserved (on Tarniny Street).
Dolinka Służewiecka pulsates with cultural life thanks to the Służewski Dom Kultury located at 15 Jana Sebastiana Bacha Street. The institution focuses on pro-ecological activities, such as maintaining a "Common Garden" with flowers, vegetables, and herbs, taking care of beehives and wild meadows, and offering workshops and park walks.
One certain highlight for park visitors and the institution is the farm with three goats: Siwa, Koziołek, and Rozrabiacha. (loose translation: grey, kid, little troublemaker).
The park is also a place for social initiatives. Thanks to the participatory budget of the city of Warsaw and the willingness of local neighbors, projects like a square on Nowoursynowska Street, wooden hammocks, and a natural playground have been implemented.
