"L’usine de tanin de la commune de Penta di Casinca, fermée depuis 1956, est un vestige du passé industriel de la Corse et de l’exploitation de sa châtaigneraie, construite à la fin du XIXème siècle. Réhabilitée, tout en conservant des éléments anciens, marquise, poutres en acier, poulies, elle abrite depuis le printemps 2014 la médiathèque territoriale annexe de Castagniccia Mare e Monti."*
L'acide gallique est un composé "organique qui servait à transformer les peaux brutes d'animaux en cuir. Les tanins sont extraits des plantes avec de l'eau (ou eau et alcool) qui est ensuite décanté et laissé évaporer à basse température jusqu'à l'obtention du produit final."**
