Geocache Description:

The classic Claddagh design includes two hands clasped around a heart topped with a crown. Each of these elements has its own meaning: The hands represent friendship, the heart symbolizes true love, and the crown is for loyalty.

Galway goldsmith Richard Joyce is credited with the modern design of this iconic ring. In 1675 he left Galway to serve as an indentured servant in the West Indies but his ship was intercepted by pirates from Algeria who enslaved the entire crew. Joyce became the slave of a man in Algiers, said to be a goldsmith, who made him his apprentice. In 1689 William III became King of England and enforced a request upon the Algerians to release all of his subjects enslaved in the country. Joyce's master offered him half the business and his daughter's hand in marriage if he stayed, but he refused and returned to Galway. There, he is said to have created the original Claddagh ring.

Traditionally, if someone is wearing the ring on their right hand with the heart facing away from the body, they are indicating that they are not in any serious relationship and that their heart is open. If someone is wearing the ring on their right hand but with the heart facing toward the body, they are indicating that they are in a relationship and that someone has captured their heart. A Claddagh worn on the left hand ring finger facing away from the body indicates that they are engaged. Once that person is married they will flip the ring into its final position on the left ring finger facing them.

The Irish Blessing

May the road rise up to meet you.

May the wind be always at your back.

May the sun shine warm upon your face;

the rains fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again,

may God hold you in the hollow of His hand.

Two part multi, both parts are in the rest areas on the highway. However you don't have to take the highway to get either part. To get to WP1 stop at the rest area This takes you to the parking lot for the first way point.  If you understand this, you'll know how to get to the final, without going on the highway.
