I like the bush and bush walks. When going on a bush walk with me my friends know that is likely to be muddy or wet. Going to this cache shouldn't be muddy but you will get wet feet.
The best approach to the cache is from the Pourakino picnic area. There is another cache there GC1ZN14 which you may wish to find. It has a lot of useful information and instructions on how to get to the picnic area which you may find useful. The picnic area was the site of a sawmill. There are some information boards that may interest you.
Head down to the river passing the old bridge site and get on to the loop track. You need to cross the river and the best place is where a quad bike has crossed. When I placed the cache it was calf deep but previously it was knee deep. The stones and rocks can be slippery. As always treat all rivers with respect. There is an unmarked route on a tram line to GZ.
You may wish to have a look at the tree that was struck by lightning at S46 11.760 E167 54.996 just beside the deer fence. A little bit of gorse about but this can be avoided.
The GPS was jumping about but the two devices I was using settled. If you find it is a bit out let me know.
Please make sure that there is something heavy on the lid and that the barrell is unlikely to fall over. The photo is what you are looking for but it is not the cache site but it is close.
