Die Hard was released in the summer of 1988 and its success elevated it to the level of enduring cult classic. Bruce Willis stars as John McClane, a New York police officer who is visiting Los Angeles to hopefully reconcile with his estranged wife. McClane plans to catch up with her at Nakatomi Plaza, where her company's Christmas party is being held. However, by the time McClane arrives, a group of terrorists have crashed the party and taken the attendees, including McClane's wife, as hostages. Their plan focuses on a theft of a size to warrant Hollywood blockbuster status. To save his wife, McClane ends up taking on the terrorists and...well, the rest of the story is best followed in the movie.
