Geocache Description:

A quick Park and Grab geocache located near the Welcome To Lameroo sign at the entrance to Lameroo.

Lameroo, proclaimed in 1884, is the main service centre for the surrounding farming area. However, it wasn’t until 1906 and the arrival of the railway that the town really took off.

Today Lameroo welcomes visitors with lush lawned picnic areas and a children’s playground on the main street. At picturesque Lake Roberts, on the eastern approach to the town, there are alternative picnic areas and the newly opened and well appointed caravan park.

A short but interesting historical trail runs along the railway line behind the Council offices and playground and other longer walking trails start and finish at the craft shop and museum complex.

In the area is Ngarkat Conservation Park – features 270,000 hectares of unspoilt natural habitat and is home to 2WD accessible picnic sites and walking trails, 4WD tracks and an abundance of native wildlife. Visit, or phone, the National Parks office at Lameroo for information.
