Geocache Description:

The Luther College Farm was built in the 1860's to 1900. The most striking feature of the farm is the 10,000 sq ft. barn, which is actually 2 barns. Constructed on a limestone base, the larger barn was built in the mid 1800's by Jacob Jewell and his son, Frank. The north side was added on after 1900. The barn was built in 3 sections over 3 decades. The smaller barn is placed at a right angle to the larger barn and shares about 15 feet of wall.  The barn is set on a gently rolling hillside at the base of a wooded area. It was restored in 1992 using materials that are authentic to the original building.

Luther College bought this farm in 1929. Up until 1962, the farm provided much of the campus needs for food. The barn is currently used for storage.

The Luther College Farm is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Feel free to take pictures from the road or trail, but please know that this is private property.  Do not go exploring beyond the wooden fence.
