Geocache Description:

Ward Pound Ridge Reservation, originally part of Cortlandt Manor, holds a rich history dating back to its settlement by Connecticut farmers. Named after the indigenous pound used to store game, it was renamed "Ward Pound Ridge" in 1938 to honor William Lukens Ward. The park offers diverse ecosystems, historic structures, and extensive trail networks. Home to varied landscapes, including meadows, wetlands, and lush woodlands, it is a haven for nature enthusiasts. The Trailside Nature Museum, built during the Great Depression, provides insight into the area's natural and cultural heritage. It is one of the oldest museums of its kind in the United States, and inside you'll be able to view a large collection of mounted animals, American Indian artifacts, as well as educational exhibits and child-friendly interactive displays.

The posted coordinates will bring you outside the Trailside Nature Museum. Feel free to go inside to look at some of the exhibits and say hello to the park staff.
