To our minds, there is one author who exemplifies spooky - Steven King. Coulrophobia is the term for the fear of clowns and Steven King exploited this fear with his novel IT. The novel was first published in 1986 and a mini series was broadcast on television in 1990. Pennywise the Clown is the villain in the book, the miniseries and the two movies that followed (2017 and 2019). Some knowledge of the story would be helpful in locating this cache, but it's not essential.
