Fig Lane Park is another small green space tucked away in the inner-city suburb of Ultimo.
It lies next to the Western Distributor, which dominates the landscape of much of Ultimo and Pyrmont, and has Fig St tunnelling underneath its northern half. The park itself was built on land which had been set aside for a freeway which never ended up being built, demolishing terrace houses in the process. Eventually, the park was opened in 1997.
