The building before you is one of Pennsylvania’s oldest and most historic eateries. Built in 1729, it was known as The Three Tuns until 1835 when its name was changed to The Lamb Tavern. The Three Tuns was a well known inn and a public house frequented by travelers and militia. In October of 1814, Captain William Morgan’s militia assembled here before joining the line at Marcus Hook. The building acted as an inn until the passing of longtime owner and proprietor Malachi W. Sloan whose last will and testament forbade its use “for the purpose of a hotel” in 1881. Although the eatery is no longer called The Lamb Tavern, the building itself is still recognized as such. In its almost 300 years standing on this corner it has undergone many updates and renovations, but the building has been preserved and kept in its original state as much as possible.

This is the first of what we hope to be an ongoing series exploring some of Delaware County's most well known places. This cache is hidden past the tree line at the back of the parking lot. Cache is a clear canister with a log and room for small goodies. BYOP. Please replace everything back exactly how you found it for the next geocacher.
