LA FICIA
Estás a las puertas del Museo del Calzado, sin embargo antes de ser Museo en este lugar estuvo “La FICIA”.
Cómo? Si, "La F.I.C.I.A." Desde 1964 hasta 1.991, en esta manzana estuvo la Feria Internacional de Calzado e Industrias Afines.
El monolito que ocupa el centro del jardín, es el monumento al zapatero, inaugurado en 1967 y es de lo poco que ha quedado fosilizado de aquellos años.
La bota-torito tan sesentera, fue emblema de la feria de calzado, pero también ha sido una figura icónica de la industria zapatera y de Elda.
EL CACHE
El caché es de tamaño pequeño -mediano. Suficiente para tener de todo, registro de firmas, bolígrafo y pequeños objetos de intercambio.
Por si acaso el caché estuviese algo profundo, le hemos incorporado un imán para facilitar el cogerlo
Cuidado con los moogles de la zona, sobre todo abundan acompañados de mascotas.
También puedes encontrar la bota-toro en una rotonda aproximadamente a 200 metros de este punto. Hay un way point indicando el lugar por si te interesa.
Es un homenaje a los industriales Eldenses que llevaron el zapato de Elda por el mundo y hace alusión a una frase típica Eldense: “Elda, Paris y Londres”. Esta frase tiene su origen en 1.902, cuando el industrial eldense Rafael Romero, gano sendas medallas de oro en las exposiciones internacionales de Paris y de Londres.
Volviendo a la FICIA, durante los días de Feria, Elda cambiaba completamente, dejaba de ser un pueblo para ser una ciudad moderna, cosmopolita, bulliciosa con un tráfico inusual, con coches espectaculares y hombres y mujeres elegantemente vestidos.
La chiquillería trataba de colarse en la feria para conseguir los objetos de regalo que daban en los estands y las más jóvenes ganaban su primer sueldo como azafatas de feria.
Durante la etapa de “La FICIA” (1962-1991) Elda cambió en todos los aspectos imaginables: duplico su población y consecuentemente cambió el urbanismo, la economía, la cultura …. Elda se convirtió en el primer centro productor español y “la FICIA” supuso poner a Elda en el mapa mundial como ciudad referente del calzado de lujo de señora.
Existen muy variadas opiniones sobre su final. Desde cuestiones logísticas a políticas o sociales… Finalmente fue 1.991 el año del último certamen celebrado en Elda. Años antes ya se había empezado a realizar ferias de calzado en Madrid, en IFEMA y en Torrellano-Alicante en IFA, (Institución Ferial Alicantina).
ETAPAS DE LA FICIA
1959. Certamen de la Industria del Calzado. Se celebra en las Escuelas Nacionales. Organizado por la Concejalía de Fiestas en el mes de septiembre como si un evento más de las fiestas patronales se tratase.
Su éxito hace que se pida permiso al Gobierno para crear una feria nacional y esta se concede.
1.960 Feria Nacional de Calzado e Industrias Afines. Se sigue en el colegio.
1.961 Visita la feria Nacional del cazado el Ministro de Comercio y da el visto bueno para que la feria sea internacional.
1.962 FICIA en las Escuelas Nacionales.
1.963 Se inicia la construcción del nuevo pabellón al lado de la carretera nacional 330.
1.964 FICIA. Se inaugura el nuevo Palacio Ferial.
1.991 última edición de una Feria en Elda MODATEC,
En los años siguientes ya se celebraría la feria en Torrellano en Institucion Ferial Alicantina (IFA)

It is a tribute to the Eldense industrialists who took the Elda shoe around the world and refers to a typical Eldense phrase: “Elda, Paris and London.” This phrase has its origin in 1902, when the Eldense industrialist Rafael Romero won gold medals at the international exhibitions in Paris and London.
Returning to FICIA, during the days of the Fair, Elda changed completely, it stopped being a town and became a modern, cosmopolitan, bustling city with unusual traffic, with spectacular cars and elegantly dressed men and women.
The children tried to sneak into the fair to get the gift items that were given at the stands and the youngest ones earned their first salary as fair hostesses.
During the “La FICIA” stage (1962-1991) Elda changed in every imaginable aspect: its population doubled and consequently urban planning, the economy, the culture changed…. Elda became the first Spanish production center and “la FICIA” meant putting Elda on the world map as a reference city for luxury women's footwear.
There are very varied opinions about its ending. From logistical to political or social issues... Finally, 1991 was the year of the last contest held in Elda. Years before, footwear fairs had already begun to be held in Madrid, at IFEMA and in Torrellano-Alicante at IFA, (Alicante Fair Institution).
STAGES OF THE FICIA
1959. Footwear Industry Contest. It is celebrated in the National Schools. Organized by the Festivities Department in the month of September as if it were just another event of the patron saint's festivities.
Its success led to the Government being asked for permission to create a national fair and this was granted.
1960 National Fair of Footwear and Related Industries. It continues at school.
1961 The Minister of Commerce visits the National Game Fair and gives the go-ahead for the fair to be international.
1962 FICIA in the National Schools.
1963 Construction of the new pavilion begins next to the national highway 31,964 FICIA. The new Fair Palace is inaugurated.
1991 last edition of a Fair in Elda MODATEC,
