I originaly put a cache here 03/31/2016. Then when they did the first BACA event, they asked me if they could place one here so I archived it and they placed a cache here 08/19/2021. They decided to archive all the previous BACA caches and so they asked if I wanted to place a new one here when it archived so here it is a new cache here. So if you have logged the other two cache's that were here, you will have a chance now to log one here for the 3rd time.
Pioneer Park
This is one of the oldest parks in Bend. In 1851 the immigrant trains used this spot to ford the Deschutes River on their trek to western Oregon. Upon departing, the earliest known train named it Farewell Bend and it is from this origin that the present city of Bend derived its name.
The park hosts many picnics and weddings during the spring, summer and fall. This riverfront park features a covered group picnic area, a formal rose garden, open lawn areas and riverfront woods.
A path along the river is a section of the Deschutes River Trail connecting downstream to First Street Rapids Park and the new pedestrian footbridge across the river.
This is a small container with a few items for trade and a log to sign.
