SideTracked - Kennington a cache across the road from the tube station entrance.

Kennington station opened in 1890 by the City & South London Railway which at the time of opening ran from Stockwell to Bank.
The station closed in 1923 for two years while they rebored the tunnel to widen it to the standard tube tunnel size that we have today. In 1926 the Charing Cross branch opened to Kennington which included a returning circle so that southbound terminating trains could continue to travel forward and loop to the northbound platform. Further tunnelling was done at Kennington for the Battersea branch which opened in 2021.
