Geocache Description:

TR #8

Trail Running (noun): the sport or activity of running along trails in nature

You don't need to be high in the mountains to go trail running. You simply need to be in nature.

Although rugged terrain and climbs are part of the sport, trail running also involves more than just running. During the ascents, you alternate walking and running. You sometimes use poles or push on your legs with your arms in the steeper sections. During descents, you have to watch your footholds, landing on the forefoot to cushion the impact. You use your arms a lot for balance. Embrace the slope, run easy and have fun with the terrain!

Unlike road running, the terrain varies constantly when trail running. You run on trails, over rocks, mud and grass, sometimes even applying navigation skills to find your route for the day.

Over and above running in nature, there is also a trail running state of mind. Opening your senses, listening to your body and its sensations, feeling good and appreciating the place where you are running. All these various feelings will allow you to exercise in harmony with the natural environment. By concentrating on each step, you think less and listen to your emotions. This sensitivity will allow you to take pleasure in exercising and being outdoors.

Welcome to the Warby Ovens National Park!

This Park offers a treasure trove of trails for bushwalkers, trail runners, and mountain bikers alike. The Trail Runner Series of Geocaches invites you to explore the Mount Glenrowan section of the Warbys which you can often find trail runners training in. This section of the park offers larger loop trails characterised by management vehicle tracks and short but sharp climbs. To give some perspective of the area you will be venturing into, from the Taminick Gap carpark it is approximately 4.5km one way to Mt Glenrowan directly along the Ridge Track. Those attempting this series should come prepared for a hike or even better, a trail run! Pack accordingly as there's no amenities nearby.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Phytophthora cinnamomi, also known as cinnamon fungus, is a serious plant disease that destroys many native plants. It is present in the Warby Range section of the park. To help prevent the spread of the disease, avoid walking and driving in wet areas. Clean camping gear and boots (recommended cleaner: 1 part bleach, 3 part water) before leaving the site. For further information on Phytophthora visit www.parks.vic.gov.au.

The cache is not at the posted coordinates. The correct coordinates are:

S36 [(10*4)+(7/4)]/5.(11*8)+(8*(2+3+4))+4

E146  [13/(8-3)].13+(8*10)-(7*6*4)

Unfortunately this cache isn’t as easy as it appears so here is some additional information that might help: 2=1, 6=5.... yes.

Remember: BODMAS (Brackets, Orders, Division, Multiplication, Addition, Subtraction) indicates the correct sequence when performing calculations such as the one above.
