The City of Belmont has around half the size of Kings Park in parklands and reserves! Signal Hill Bushland covering 3.87 hectares is a small remnant of banksia woodland in the City of Belmont. It was used as a signal station by the Royal Australian Air Force and the Army during World War II where it communicated with aircraft and to guide Boomerang and Wirraway aircraft into the Guildford Airport. Signal Hill later became a natural bush reserve after a referendum in 1993
