Om Söderköping
Söderköping är en tätort i Östergötland samt centralort i Söderköpings kommun i Östergötlands län, belägen 16 km söder om Norrköping.
Söderköping har en lång och intressant historia. I korsningen mellan Storån, som mynnar ut i Östersjön, och vägen till Kalmar växte en storstad fram under tidig medeltid. Söderköping kom att bli en av landets viktigaste hamnstäder under medeltiden. Stegeborgs slott utgjorde ett effektivt lås och skydd sjövägen. Det gav en möjlighet till att kontrollera handeln ända fram till 1700-talet. Att staden var viktig märks på alla möten och händelser förlagda hit såsom kröningar, herremöten, biskopsmöten och riksdagar.
Söderköpings storhetstid inleddes under Bjälboättens era på 1200-talet och staden var en plats där ätten gärna uppehöll sig. Man kan med fog säga att Söderköping för något århundrade var sveriges huvudstad där viktiga möten hölls och konungar och drottningar kröntes och gifte sig.
Under 1600-talet kom staden att förlora sin betydelse som hamnstad. När Göta kanal, Söderköpings brunn och järnvägen byggdes på 1800-talet levde den åter upp. Söderköping förblev ändå en småstad och är idag ett välbesökt turistmål med en idyllisk miljö från 18- och 1900-talen.
Söderköping fick åter en viss betydelse genom Söderköpings brunn från 1719/1785 och byggandet av Göta kanal på 1800-talet. Under 1800-talet byggdes även en järnväg som har varit en viktig faktor för utvecklingen av Söderköping. Söderköping har förblivit en småstad och är idag ett välbesökt turistmål tack vare sin idylliska miljö från 18- och 1900-talen.

Geocache-serierna Östgötatorg
Januari-Mars 2011 placerade jag (LHCper) ut 13 stycket Östgötatorg-multis, en i varje kommun i Östergötland. Och varje hade en bonussiffra som sedan ledde fram till en bonus-cache. Av dessa finns idag (oktober 2023) 3 kvar, plus bonuscachen då, men de kommer att arkiveras efter hand.
För att göra ett försenat 10-års-jubileum så har jag nu börjar placera ut nya Östgötatorgs-multis. Men ingen bonus-cache denna gången. Och jag lovar inte att placera ut i alla kommuner.
För att lösa denna hoppas jag att du verkligen besöker torget, för annars blir det svårt...
För att hitta till slutgömman
På detta tämligen kvadratiska torg så behöver du kolla upp och räkna några saker:
A = Vid startkoordinaten mitt på torget finns det en fontän med en staty - ett konstverk med dansande barn. Hur många barn med huvudet uppåt ingår i konstverket?
BC = Längs med två av kortsidorna, mitt emot varandra, finns det en lång rad bänkar, där varje har 14 träribbor. Kanske 3-4 personer får plats på varje bänk. Det är olika antal bänkar på respektive sida. Hur många sådana bänkar finns det totalt?
DE = På de två andra kortsidorna, finns det svarta stolpar med kedjor / kättingar emellan. På andra sidan verkar bilar kunna parkera. Hur många stolpar finns det totalt?
FGHJ = Utanför torget, uppe på ett av taken, finns det ett klocktorn, och längst upp i det en statisk vimpel. Vilket årtal syns i vimpeln?

About Söderköping
Söderköping is a conurbation in Östergötland and the center of Söderköping Municipality in Östergötland County, located 16 km south of Norrköping.
Söderköping has a long and interesting history. At the junction between Storån, which flows into the Baltic Sea, and the road to Kalmar, a large city grew up during the early Middle Ages. Söderköping became one of the country's most important port cities during the Middle Ages. Stegeborg Castle formed an effective lock and protection by sea. It provided an opportunity to control trade right up until the 18th century. That the city was important can be seen in all the meetings and events held here, such as coronations, meetings of lords, bishops' meetings and national assemblies.
Söderköping's heyday began during the era of the Bjälbo family in the 13th century and the city was a place where the family liked to stay. You can rightly say that for a few centuries Söderköping was Sweden's capital, where important meetings were held and kings and queens were crowned and married.
During the 17th century, the city lost its importance as a port. When the Göta canal, Söderköping's well and the railway were built in the 19th century, it came back to life. Söderköping nevertheless remained a small town and is today a well-visited tourist destination with an idyllic setting from the 18th and 20th centuries.
Söderköping gained some importance again through the Söderköping well from 1719/1785 and the construction of the Göta canal in the 19th century. During the 19th century, a railway was also built, which has been an important factor for the development of Söderköping. Geocache series Östgötatorg
January-March 2011 I (LHCper) placed 13 Östgötatorg multis, one in each municipality in Östergötland. And each had a bonus number which then led to a bonus cache. Of these, there are today (October 2023) 3 left, plus the bonus cache then. But they might be archived as times goes by.
To mark a belated 10-year anniversary, I have now started to place new Östgöta-torg-multis. But no bonus cache this time. And I do not promise to place in all municipalities.
To solve this, you need to visit the square.
To find the final
On this fairly square square, you need to look up and count a few things:
A = At the start coordinate in the middle of the square there is a statue, a work of art with dancing children. How many children with heads up are included in the artwork?
BC = Along two of the short sides, opposite each other, there are a long row of benches, each with 14 wooden slats. Maybe 3-4 people can fit on each bench. There are different numbers of benches on each side. How many such benches are there in total?
DE = On the other two sides, there are black poles with chains between them. On the other side of the chains, cars seem to be able to park. How many poles are there in total?
FGHJ = Outside the square, up on one of the roofs, there is a clock tower, and at the top of it a static pennant. Which year is visible in the pennant?
